Rediscover Joy
I help young adults process grief without feeling isolated.
My clients struggle as you do. Despite being self-aware, ambitious and capable – life is hard.
When they first come in, they feel overwhelming waves of sadness while trying to make it through the day. One moment may feel normal, then they realize their world is upside down. And the person they usually turn to is gone.
They try to socialize with friends, but feel isolated even though they’re surrounded by people who care. Most of their peers have not yet dealt with loss the same way. They are usually the independent ones who aren’t used to leaning on others.
They find themselves holding back tears at work, hiding their emotions from colleagues and bosses. It feels necessary to compartmentalize when a job has to get done.
Their grief gets in the way of the life they want in so many ways. They aren’t the kind of friend, professional, partner or child they want to be. They feel like they’re failing in all of those roles. And their confidence in their ability to manage life is tanking.
Before they came to see me, they didn’t know how to move on while also honoring their loved one’s life. They worried they couldn’t face future life milestones without their person. And they were pretty certain they’d never get over unresolved and unspoken issues with the person who’s now unfairly gone. Feeling stuck in their grief is draining the joy and fulfillment from their life.
